What age of kids are your day camps for?
We offer a variety of different childcare events varying from ages 1-13. Most of our full day camps are for 5-12 year olds, but it varies depending on the activities we have planned.
Will my 11 year old enjoy the activities as well?
Yes! We have engaging activities planned for all ages of kids and we will adjust our plan based on the ages of the kids registered. If we have a wide age range, we will offer multiple activity options in smaller groups so everyone can have a great time.
Is this just childcare or is it educational?
This is not your regular childcare, every day camp has an educational aspect to it. We have a high focus on learning through playing, exploring, risk-taking, and expressing creativity. We also offer science focus camps and homeschool labs which have a specific science lesson.
Will my kids enjoy your educational day camps if they don't like school?
100% yes! Our goal is to show kids that learning is actually so much fun! We offer hands-on and engaging chemistry lessons, and we love messy crafts and science experiments.
What makes your day camps so affordable?
The day camps are planned, organized, and run by K-J Doell, a 16 year old girl who is passionate about spending time with kids and event planning. Our leaders are all teenagers (ages 14-18), and our junior helpers are preteens (ages 11.5-13). They are all offering to help out at the camps for only $1-$3/hour, so they are basically volunteering their time. They all love spending time with kids and are happy to have the experience to add to their resume.
What if our kids would love to come but we can't quite afford your day camps?
We try to make our day camps as affordable as possible, but unfortunately, there is no perfect way to make them work for every family. If full day camps don't work for you, watch out for our smaller events. Some of our 3 hour camps have an early bird price as low as $10/child. If you already give your kids an allowance, I highly recommend giving them the opportunity to practice saving up their money for a camp. Once in a while, we still do camps that are entirely by donation, so keep watch for those.
How do I know my kids are safe if they are learning through taking risks?
We love to give the kids freedom to explore and practice risk-taking, because it is so beneficial for their growth and learning. When we offer this opportunity, it is always in a safe, predetermined location. The leaders are trained to look for possible dangers, and to ensure the kids are only trying what they have the skills required to attempt. Our camp coordinator, K-J Doell, has up to date First Aid & CPR certification, and lots of experience with kids, so she is prepared for any circumstance that may arise.
Can my child still attend your day camps if they have a medical condition?
If your child has anxiety or ADHD, we would love to have them! In fact, the camps are designed to be an especially amazing time for these kids. Please let us know in advance if there is anything specific the leaders can do to help your child feel less anxious and have a great time. If your child has another medical condition such as epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, ASD, or special mobility needs, please message KJ to see if we are able to accommodate your child's exact needs with the activities planned and the number of leaders available.
Can my child attend your day camps if they have a peanut or tree nut allergy?
Our playroom is a nut-free area and we do not serve any foods containing peanuts or tree nuts, so children with nut allergies are welcome. We do have items containing nuts in our kitchen as the camps are held in our house, however we are very careful not to cross-contaminate and have not had any issues so far.
Can you accommodate children who are lactose or gluten intolerant?
We are generally able to accommodate lactose and gluten intolerances if you register your child more than two weeks before the camp starts (preferably one month notice for summer camps as we have to plan a weeks worth of meals). If your child has a wheat or milk allergy, as appose to a sensitivity or intolerance, please message KJ to see if we are able to accommodate your child's needs.
Can you accommodate children with other food allergies/sensitivities?
We try our best to accommodate any food allergies or sensitivities your child may have, either by providing a similar alternate meal, or by planning meals for all the children which are free from the allergen. We ask that you message KJ at least two weeks in advance to discuss whether we are able to accommodate your child's allergy at the specific camp. We may ask that you provide a lunch for your child if we are unsure we can accommodate the allergen or we have already purchased the groceries for the camp.
What if my child has an environmental allergy or sensitivity?
What if my child needs to bring medication to take during the camp?
What if my child has a medical emergency during the camp and I am not able to be reached?
What sorts of activities do you do at the camps?
What if my child dislikes an activity planned?
What if my child is unable to attend one or more days of camp due to illness or injury?
We understand that life is unpredictable and will do our best to make up for lost time. If your child misses 1-3 days of a 5 day camp, we will be happy to provide them with any snacks, crafts, prizes, etc. that they missed out on. If your child misses 4-5 days of a camp, or the full duration of any other length of camp, we will try our best to offer you a partial refund, or a credit towards babysitting hours when your child is feeling better.
What if something comes up with family or vacation and my child is unable to attend the day camp?
Can my child continue to attend the day camp if they become sick with a stomach bug or cold shortly before or during the camp?
The short answer is no! Please be kind to other families, especially those who may have lowered immunity, by keeping your child home if they have a fever, unexplained rash or cough, or any signs of a cold or stomach bug that are not explained by another non-contagious medical condition. Be considerate of the leaders and organizers who are pretty much volunteers and can't afford to get sick.
If I don't give permission for my child to be in social media photos, will they feel left out?
We never single campers out for not being allowed in social media photos. We have many tips and tricks up our sleeves to make everyone feel welcome in photos and to still end up with nice photos for social media.
Can I still get some photos of my child at the camp although I don't allow social media permission?
If we happen to get a nice photo of only your kid(s) doing an activity at the camp, we will happily send it to you. However, we want to prioritize photos that can be posted on social media for all the parents to see, so we are not able to take special requests to focus on taking photos of only your child. It is more likely that we will have photos to send you if it is a weeklong camp or if you have multiple children.
